Ghana’s Auto Industry Boosted with Launch of Locally Assembled Peugeot Vehicles

 



Ghana’s automobile industry has received a significant boost with the launch of locally assembled Peugeot vehicles, reinforcing the country’s growing role in automotive manufacturing.


Silver Star Auto Ltd. (SSAL), the authorised distributor of Peugeot in Ghana, has officially introduced the locally assembled Peugeot 3008 SUV and the Peugeot Landtrek Pick-up to the market. The launch marks a major milestone in efforts to promote local manufacturing, job creation and sustainable mobility within the country.


The official unveiling took place at the Silver Star Auto showroom on Graphic Road in Accra. Speaking at the event, the General Manager of SSAL, Mr. Rabie Agha, described the launch as an important moment for the Peugeot brand in Ghana. He announced the introduction of the all-new Peugeot 3008 and the facelifted Peugeot Landtrek, noting that both vehicles were designed to meet the lifestyle, ambitions and mobility needs of modern Ghanaians.


According to Mr. Agha, Peugeot continues to focus on combining bold design, advanced technology and comfort to serve families, professionals and business owners. He explained that while the Peugeot 3008 is tailored for contemporary family use and comfort, the Peugeot Landtrek reflects the resilience and versatility required for business and everyday activities in Ghana.


Executive Director of Silver Star Auto, Mr. Nouhad Kalmoni, said the local assembly of the vehicles demonstrates confidence in Ghana’s industrial potential. He noted that assembling the Peugeot models locally enables the company to deliver international quality standards while contributing directly to the development of a competitive automotive industry in Ghana.


Managing Director of Stellantis Sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. Michael Whitfield, highlighted the company’s commitment to regional production, explaining that Stellantis aims to source the majority of vehicles sold in any region from within that region. He added that the partnership with Japan Motors to assemble the Peugeot 3008 and Landtrek further strengthens Stellantis’ manufacturing footprint and long-term commitment to Africa.


Chief Operating Officer of Silver Star Auto Ltd., Mr. Jalal Kalmoni, expressed appreciation to guests and members of the media for their support, describing the launch as a key milestone for the Peugeot brand in Ghana. He said the new models reflect Peugeot’s focus on innovation, strong performance and practical design suited to local needs.


Mr. Kalmoni further noted that Silver Star Auto’s vision extends beyond vehicle sales to delivering a complete ownership experience through skilled technicians, reliable aftersales support and a customer-focused service approach.


The Peugeot 3008 features a 1.6-litre turbo engine, advanced safety systems and an enhanced Panoramic i-Cockpit with a 21-inch curved display, available in GT and Allure trims. The Peugeot Landtrek Double Cab 4×4 Pick-up offers durability, power and versatility for commercial, off-road and recreational use.


The vehicles were officially presented to guests by members of the Silver Star Auto sales team, including Harriet Asafo Agyei, Sales and Brand Manager; Saviour Doe, Senior Sales Consultant; and Iddriss Mohammed, Sales Supervisor.
