Chelsea have made an initial approach to explore the possibility of signing Ghana international Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth ahead of the January transfer window.
According to The Athletic, the Premier League side had planned to recruit a new forward during the summer but have now contacted Semenyo’s representatives to understand the conditions of a possible deal, with the option of accelerating the move to January.
The 25-year-old forward has attracted interest from several top English clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool. Semenyo is currently under contract with Bournemouth until 2030, with a £65 million release clause that can be activated during the January transfer window.
Semenyo has been in impressive form during the 2025–26 season, recording eight goals and three assists in 16 Premier League matches. His performances have made him one of Bournemouth’s standout players this campaign.
Bournemouth reportedly valued the former Bristol City attacker at £70 million during the summer, but the winter release clause has now set the price at £65 million. The clause must be triggered by a specific date, allowing the club a short window to find a replacement.
Should Bournemouth succeed in keeping Semenyo beyond January, the release clause mechanism is expected to become available again in a future transfer window at a reduced fee.
