AFCON 2025 Winner to Receive $10m as CAF Increases Prize Money

The winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco will earn a record $10 million in prize money after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved a significant increase in rewards.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced the new prize structure following a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee held in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the tournament.

The 2025 AFCON is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

According to CAF, the winner’s prize marks a 43 percent increase from the previous edition, where hosts Côte d’Ivoire received $7 million after winning the 2023 tournament.

Over the past four years, AFCON prize money has doubled. Winners of the 2021 tournament in Cameroon earned $5 million, which rose to $7 million in 2023, and now stands at $10 million for the 2025 edition — representing a 100 percent increase.

CAF further disclosed that the runners-up at AFCON 2025 will receive $4 million, while the two semi-finalists will each earn $2.5 million.

The continental football governing body said the increase in prize money is part of its broader strategy to enhance the value, competitiveness, and global appeal of Africa’s premier football competition.
