The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested two individuals, including a Canadian national, in connection with an alleged arson attack on an apartment at Oyarifa in the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement dated December 27, 2025, the police said the Greater Accra Regional Police Command apprehended the suspects following investigations into a case of unlawful damage at Oyarifa Anointed Down.
The suspects have been identified as Jennifer Mae Tomlinson, a Canadian citizen, and her Ghanaian boyfriend, Mohammed Issah. Mohammed Issah was arrested on December 23, 2025, the same day the incident occurred, while Jennifer Mae Tomlinson was arrested two days later, on December 25, 2025, after allegedly going into hiding.
According to preliminary police investigations, the two suspects were tenants of the apartment and are believed to have deliberately set the property on fire on December 23, 2025, completely destroying it. Police indicated that the act was carried out without any apparent provocation.
The CID explained that Mohammed Issah was first arrested by officers from the Ayimensah Abokobi Police, while his alleged accomplice was later tracked down and arrested from her hideout.
Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and are expected to be arraigned before court to face charges in accordance with the law.
The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department.
