Parliament has paid glowing tribute to hardworking farmers across the country for their invaluable contribution to nation-building as Ghana prepares to mark Farmers Day on Friday, December 5, 2025, a statutory public holiday.
In recognition of the national celebration, the House announced that it will not sit on Friday, allowing Members of Parliament (MPs) and the general public to fully participate in honouring the nation’s farmers.
Business Statement Presented
Presenting the Business Statement for the seventh week ending Thursday, December 4, the Chairman of the Business Committee and Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, encouraged all budget committees to deepen collaboration with civil society organisations (CSOs) during their budget deliberations.
“I urge the various committees to actively engage CSOs in their work. Their input will enrich the budget estimates and ensure inclusivity in our national decision-making,” Mr Ayariga said.
He also revealed that 27 questions have been scheduled for ministers to answer during the week, alongside motions and other parliamentary activities.
Farmers Day Significance
Established in 1985, Farmers Day remains a national platform to celebrate the resilience, innovation, and dedication of Ghana’s farmers—whose work guarantees food security, boosts exports, and contributes significantly to economic growth.
