Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has doubled down on his corruption allegations against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, insisting he will not retreat despite being detained by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on Wednesday, December 3.
Speaking to JoyNews on Thursday morning while heading back to the OSP headquarters, Mr Kpebu said he continues to receive new information from citizens that strengthens his case.
“We’ve hit Kissi Agyebeng very hard… we’re saying he’s corrupt,” he stated.
“Just this morning, I got more citizens coming to give me more information. So let’s give it a bit of time.”
Mr Kpebu challenged the Special Prosecutor to submit to a transparent public process if necessary, expressing confidence that more evidence would emerge.
“If he likes, we should do the hearing on a live broadcast. You will see people bring even more information,” he suggested.
He further disclosed plans to submit a formal petition to the President, insisting that he is ready to have the matter heard openly.
Kpebu Describes Arrest as “Unjustified”
The outspoken lawyer condemned his arrest, describing it as an act driven by what he called a “suicide mission” allegedly being carried out by the Special Prosecutor.
“My arrest was entirely unjustified,” Mr Kpebu argued.
“This is part of a suicide mission he is pursuing.”
OSP Accuses Kpebu of Disrespecting Security Officers
In contrast, sources within the OSP claim the lawyer repeatedly disrespected its security personnel, leading to his detention. Mr Kpebu had visited the office to assist with investigations into the same corruption allegations he had made against Mr Agyebeng.
According to the OSP, a confrontation occurred at the facility’s entrance, resulting in Mr Kpebu being taken into custody.
He was released later that evening but is expected to report again to the OSP at 11 a.m. today for further investigations.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor has not yet issued an official public response to Mr Kpebu’s renewed comments.
